Back in Town Bullets

Yes, I've actually been back in town since Sunday evening, but the last two days have been a blur of unpacking and catching up.
  • I bought a new writing portfolio at OfficeMax. It's not quite as nice as my last one, but it'll work fine. It's actually good for me to refill it, because it's forcing me to reconsider my poems and make sure everything's polished and ready.
  • You should check out Dora Malech's newly released first book, Shore Ordered Ocean. Her second book is already on the way from the Cleveland State University Poetry Center, which is putting out some great stuff these days.
  • I came home to an acceptance from Pebble Lake Review. While I'm near the subject, congratulations to Amanda Auchter for having her book picked up by Red Hen Press!
  • Here are some favorite things from Miami: seagulls in the swimming pool, the Lamborghini Countach in the Walgreen's parking lot, and a prostitute propositioning one of our group members. I'll have a picture of one of those three things when I have time to hook my camera up again.
  • St. Nick's Day is big in St. Louis (especially among German-derived Catholic families), so we celebrated on Sunday. My girlfriend got me a Space Invaders ice cube tray, and I got her saltwater taffy and two pens from the Miami airport. Also, we ate at Schlafly Bottleworks, where we discovered that pretzels from Companion Bakery are really, really good. The sticky toffee pudding is still really, really good also.
  • I've finished all my Christmas shopping except one item for a person and two for dogs.
Comments:
I have that ice cube tray too! TWINSIES
