Questionable

I question the legitimacy of Verse Daily running two poems by the same person, from the same journal, in a little over a week, especially given that both the person and the journal are consistent sponsors of Verse Daily. Understand that it pains me to say this because I like the poet and the journal (and they've both published poems of mine), but I'm also not holding them responsible for something here. Of course, Verse Daily has published both me and poems from my journal as well, but I'm afraid I don't approve of this particular decision. Just thought someone should know.

Comments:
I went to check out the archive and noticed that VD also ran two Juddith Skillman poems in the past two and a half weeks. But at least in this case from two different sources (one book, one mag).

pretty sketchy, yeah.

off topic, you're like the only person i know who hasn't switched to beta. are you boycotting?

Now, I've never bought sponsorship, and last April they ran two poems by me inside of a month - and wasn't one of them from Eleventh Muse?

Probably so, Jeannine, but that doesn't really seem to be in the same boat as two by the same person from the same journal in 10 days. If Verse Daily liked them that much, why not just run both on one day and open a day for someone else?

Certainly there's enough good work out there that the same poet, regardless of the poems' original places of publication, doesn't warrant publishing twice in the same year, even. Why not, as they do sometimes, just run two poems from a poet on the same day, on the same page? That seems like a more legitimate approach.
