Self indulgent drivel

I know posting a picture of a cat is just about the worst sin a poetry blog (or any blog for that matter) can commit. Fuck it.

This is Rain, one of my mom's two cats. She (the cat) is 15 years old, overweight, and diabetic. (My mom got her from the Humane Society last year.) Anyway, she (Rain again) has a large belly that reminds me of either an udder or a barrel when she's standing. The way she looks when she sits down has led me to nickname her "Toaster Cozy":
Toaster Cozy

Comments:
How does one deal with a diabetic cat? Does you mom have to check her (Rain's) blood sugar levels regularly?

Nah, she just gets a low calorie diet and a shot every day.

I had a diabetic cat for over 9 years -- he was diagnosed at age 9 and finally died at 18 and a half. He was totally sweet and had a very, very happy life -- didn't mind the shots in the slightest.

Rain looks like a sweetie, and to be adopted from a shelter at that age, very fortunate indeed! And personally, I like the occasional cat picture on poetry blogs, so there. :)

I don't know about diabetes, but the treatment for heart disease in cats is a big bag of rank, malodorous squirrels. As for cat pics on blogs, I don't have much choice but to agree with Anne. I fell asleep in the bathtub again today.

She's a gorgeous cat! I'm glad your mum adopted her. We really need more pet owners like her. Please post more photos of her! That's what brought here! :)
