Hello, Independent Readers
Hey there. If you happened to find my blog because The Independent mentioned me, you should know that I'm really not a nice guy. I swear way too much, for one thing. But welcome, and thanks to the Indy for the mention--I'm not sure who's responsible, though I have one decent idea.
Also, since I asked for advice and got a lot here, I ought to update you. I talked to the resume company owner who was offering me the promotion, and it turns out there's some more flexibility to the new position than I had originally understood. Therefore, I decided to take the promotion. I still plan on going back into an MFA or perhaps PhD program next fall, however.

On his "Sturgeon's Law" blog (steveschroeder.info/news.html), Steve Schroeder just seems like such a nice guy. Recent posts include an open solicitation for career-quandary advice; photos of the season's first blizzard; a fantasy football update; and a call to get out and vote. If ever anyone could make you feel comfortable enough to read poetry aloud, it could be Schroeder, who also happens to edit local poetry journal The Eleventh Muse. He's featured at this month's Blue Streak Poetry Open Mike, from 7 to 9 tonight at Poor Richard's Café and Wine Bar (320 N. Tejon St.). If you're not ready to read, just come and listen. Call 200-4268 with questions.
