Kinda weird that the two contests that seem most prestigious (Bakeless and Yale) also have the cheapest entry fees.
Winnow Press, as far as I can tell, have gone bust - and not responding to email. They're also getting some flak for not announcing a winner for a contest. I would not recommend them.
Steve,
I believe the dates you have posted for Tupelo are wrong.

If you mean the dates listed on the front page for the Dorset prize, that's not their first book competition--that's an open competition. The dates I list were for their previous first book contest, and I'm assuming they'll be the same next year, though I don't see them on the website right now.
Dear Steven D. Schroeder,
I just have to say THANK YOU! This website was so helpful for me. Now, I've got 5 first poetry book contests to aspire for. Thank you again.

I've just seen an announcement of a winner of the 2007 three candles press first book prize (Jehanne Dubrow) and I see that the three candles contest isn't on this list. If it's an annual or otherwise regular thing, it would be good to add.
