Bad TV! Bad!
I think my television is in the process of dying. Where would you recommend going to get a new one at a decent price with high reliability/long life?

If you can stomach it (politically speaking), Walmart. I got my folks a really big Phillips TV there, and the picture tube broke in less than a year...we took it back to Walmart and they offered to package it and send it back for us...then, when I explained I was really frustrated to have to have a "repaired" Phillips TV, rather than the new, expensive model I had paid for, they gave me store credit to buy a jumbo RCA model. Granted, this was a few years back, but Walmart went out of their way to make sure I had a working, quality product...and they were willing to deal with the hassle of having Phillips replace the defective product.
Nice blog.

Try going to Best Buy. We have two Phillips TVs that we like a lot (have not had any problems) that we bought from Best Buy. Best Buy will try to sell you a Best Buy warranty when you check out, which may be a good idea to get or not depending on how much it costs and how nervous you are about paying out of pocket if something goes wrong.
We have a Thomson TV that's survived being carted from Italy to Scotland.
However, I think most TVs are designed to fail after a few years so that you have to buy another one. That's business.
