Thought of the evening: why is it that HR professionals don't seem to have learned anything from the thousands of resumes they've seen?

"Betty" made me chuckle twice, and there was something inexpressibly poignant about the grasshopper finding out the drink wasn't as much about her as she might have thought. For a short poem, for me, that's outstanding.
I definitely agree about the chuckles and the poignancy. But what's going on at the end there? It's good; just lost me is all.

HR professionals are a complete mystery to me—considering the types of people i've seen hired readily vs. those struggling to find employment.

Daniel Anderson is one of my mentors in the MFA program at Murray State. Nice to see him getting some notice here. I love that poem.
