Draft off the port bow


Today wasn't an especially good day. I did, however, finish a workable draft. Here it is.

Hey, Steven. Great lineation, varying the five-beat line to cool dramatic effect. And what a great, resonant image of someone singing to himself in the iron lung. Hey, Chad. Thanks for the kind words about the poem. Yes, it's a very loose "meter," isn't it? :-)

I actually have corresponded briefly with the other Steven Schroeder. He's the reason I try to use my initial when I publish...
